Congratulations Nate!

So it's been awhile since I've posted. Nate and I have been extremely busy with school! Nate had his regional Science Olympiad competition at Grand Valley today. It is a busy day with a ton of middle school and high school kids competing in brainy science events. Jaime was so kind to accompany me to GVSU. We had a lot of fun walking around the campus, enjoying the sunshine and getting a bit of exercise. We just had to walk off the treat that we had! Jaime passed her driving test today, so we had to celebrate! I can't believe that my little sister will be getting her license in just a week!!!! Watch out drivers! Just kidding. She is a great driver!

Oh, getting back to Nate's competition. They placed third and will be going on to the state competition at the end of April at MSU! Yea!!! Another couple of busy weeks for Nate, but he loves doing it. I love watching him interact with his students. They just love him. I really love seeing how happy he gets when they get excited about what they are learning. These kids amaze me! They are such hard workers and very smart.

So that is all that has been going on in our little world. We are very excited for spring break! Just one more week of school and then some relaxation. Any advice on where to do? We just can't decide. We'll probably just stay around home. I'm praying for sunny weather!

Still Home Sick

That's right. I am still home sick. It has been almost one week since I got this horrible influenza. Today was the first day that I felt good enough to venture out from the bedroom and into the living room. I started cleaning up the kitchen and thought, "This is great! I'm feeling so much better. I think I'll do some laundry." I began doing laundry, dusting the living room, and vacuuming. That was the wrong thing to do. About an hour or two later I felt horrible again. I really shouldn't have done everything that I had done, but the house looks so much better! I returned to the bedroom and laid in bed with aches for about four hours. I think I learned my lesson. Just when you think you're feeling better and try to do things, this junk kicks back in and makes you feel cruddy again.

Well tomorrow is my seventh day with the flu. They say it takes 7 to 10 days to get rid of it. I'm hoping that I will be back to normal by Saturday or Sunday. Nate will be driving me to my classroom this weekend to get things ready for the week. I can't wait to go back into my classroom. I've really missed being at school with my kids and fellow teachers. I'll have to bring a bunch of cleaning supplies and disinfectant because I've had low numbers due to sickness all week. I'm thinking I should get a flu shot next year!

Thanks for all of the prayers for my health. I really appreciate everyone's thoughts.

Home Sick!

Well I haven't updated in awhile because Nate and I have been so busy with school and everything else. So I finally have some down time because I am home sick with influenza. I went to school on Friday feeling fine and happy because it was Friday. I was teaching and all of the sudden I felt horrible. I got really weak and cold. I had to sit down and finish my lesson. My principal sent me home right after lunch. The teacher next door took my class for the rest of the day because he has a student teacher. I'm so lucky to work where I work!

So I left to go home on Friday and could barely drive home because I ached so much. I finally made it home and hurried into bed, under loads and loads of covers. I had a 102 degree temperature. It's been up and down all weekend. Nate took me to the med center and I was diagnosed with influenza. I got home and Nate has been taking such great care of me. He has been making sure I am drinking enough water and bringing me toast, making sure I eat. When I asked him to go to the store and buy pudding, he bought three different kinds. He has been so wonderful! I'm a lucky girl!

So here I am, laying in bed, wondering how my kids are treating the sub, updating my blog and watching What Not to Wear. I think I need to stop writing now. Just when I think I'm feeling well again, I start feeling icky! Please pray that I start feeling better soon and my fever stays away. Thank you!
